Huck Diamonds Are Off the Loom!!
Yesterday I managed to finish weaving the third baby blanket on this oh-so-wide warp, and this morning I set about cutting it off the loom.
Here you can see the end of the blanket from above; and then the end of the warp behind the heddles
It's always a bit thrilling when you take scissors to cloth after being so very careful with the cloth during the entire weaving process.
After a quick run through the washer and dryer on HOT, I did a hard press with the iron. Here are a couple of shots trying to show the details of the pattern;
I wish you could reach through the screen and feel how soft the cloth is!! While these blankets still need to be cut apart and hemmed, I can see and feel that they are going to be very moldable, thin and soft, and will be big enough to wrap and swaddle a baby securely. I think this project is a win!
In other news, today is the big warm-up day that the weather guys have talked about all week. It's a one-day thing, and as of noon, Portland, a mere 1.5 hours away was sunny and up to 59 degrees, while we here in the midcoast remained socked in with fog and low 40's. It's now almost 3:00, and I think I see the sun trying to peek through the fog, so I'm going to high tail it outside before it cools down again.
