Next Up - Sewing!
The cloth for the wedding table linens has finally been woven! I finished up yesterday afternoon and pulled it all off the loom. It just seemed to keep coming and coming... Twelve yards is alot longer than it sounds. AND alot heavier. It all weighs over 3 lbs, which doesn't sound all that heavy, I suppose, but for a bunch of cloth it is. Here is a photo or two.
Next I will have to zigzag stitch all the ends, 24 in all, so that I can cut them apart without them unraveling. After that, lots off measuring, folding and pinning. Then more sewing. Trim up the extra threads, and into the washer and dryer they go. There will certainly be alot of trimming while I iron them, since some of the ends of the yarns will undoubtedly be poking up through the cloth. So there is still more work to do, but I'm very happy to have them off the loom.
And, just in case you missed it, here is a gratuitous shot or two of my handspun, hand knit sweater, buttons on. I really like how it turned out, and am now a great fan of top down sweaters!
I'm in the process of knitting my first shawl, not from handspun, but in pearly colors. This is in case the weather is a bit chilly at the wedding in September. Not sure what my next weaving project will be yet. I have a few ideas, but they have to marinate for awhile.
